So what’s the latest on the Fanfiction.net Purge?
I’ve seen comments that long author’s note in stories are now becoming part of the purge. Of course, their guidelines say nothing about author’s notes, except that they can’t be within the text of the story…
There has been no further acknowledgement of the purge by ff.net. Though they did switch from alphabetizing fandoms to by # of stories, which is more than a little obnoxious.
There’s also a new Notes feature for stories, which I can’t find. Has anyone else been able to find it?
Also, the previous information on numbers of fics deleted was incorrect. The numbers are smaller. No fandom has had more than 1% deleted. However one caveat to this is that tons of people are posting every day, so the numbers are probably a bit larger than these. It also only accounts for stories deleted before June 1.
The hardest hit fandoms: Twilight, Glee, Narotu, and Hetalia: Axis Powers.
The rumors blaming Critics United are not true. The group has been around for quite some time, reporting stories that whole time, and even some of their members have had difficulties with the purge. Check out this forum.
Someone started a petition to stop the purge. Her goal is 20,000, and she is over halfway there.
There’s also been rumors that the purge is tapering off. I’m wondering, have any of my readers had a story/account deleted in the last couple of days?
